Accounts Receivable Clerk

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Receivable Clerk to oversee client invoicing, payment collection, and account reconciliation. This role is essential to ensuring accurate revenue tracking, timely payments, and maintaining strong financial health. You’ll work closely with clients and internal finance teams to manage receivables efficiently and with professionalism.

Job Responsibilities

1. Invoicing & Payment Collection
• Generate and distribute accurate client invoices on schedule.
• Monitor incoming payments and match them to outstanding balances.
• Proactively follow up on overdue invoices via email and phone.
• Maintain comprehensive records of payment activities and communications.

2. Account Reconciliation & Reporting
• Reconcile client accounts, resolving any mismatches or discrepancies.
• Process credit notes, adjustments, and refunds when needed.
• Prepare weekly and monthly aged debtor reports for management.
• Coordinate with finance team for accurate revenue recognition.

3. Client Communication & Relationship Management
• Build strong client relationships to support effective collections.
• Respond promptly to queries and resolve billing disputes professionally.
• Escalate non-payment or unresolved issues to the Finance Manager.

4. Compliance & Documentation
• Ensure all financial processes follow internal policies and relevant regulations.
• Provide documentation for internal and external audits when required.
• Maintain accurate and secure financial records in line with data protection policies.

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience in Accounts Receivable, Credit Control, or Finance Administration.
• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• AAT Level 2 (or higher) or equivalent finance/accounting qualification.
• Prior experience in sectors such as retail, professional services, or construction is a plus.
